Roy Jacobson
Roy Jacobson grew up in northwest Wisconsin and discovered his love of photography at an early age walking the forests and canoeing the many streams in that area.
He started making photographs with his grandmother's old Kodak 120 box-camera in high school and moved on to using 35mm cameras while working for the U. S. National Park Service. His career with the park service took him to many parts of the United States and Mexico where he discovered his love of history and photographing the interesting people inhabiting these magnificent places. Over the past decade he has been concentrating his photographic efforts on making portraits of the Native American cattlemen, Indian rodeo riders, and barbers. These images portray the enormous pride these people have in their culture and work.
Roy works as a freelance photographer using 6x7 Mamiya and vintage 4x5 Graflex "Crown Graphic" cameras with 7 inch pan flash and #25 flash bulbs. He divides his time between Kalispell, Montana and throughout the Sonoran Desert region of Arizona and Mexico. The Art of Fine Printing.
